The COE's Erasmus strategy

The COE

The COE, a reference in the French and German osteopathic landscapes, has contributed to the recognition of osteopathy in France. We have also supported the promulgation of Decree no. 2007-437 of March 27 2007. As for the COE itself, it was approved by order of the Health Ministry on the 9th of April 2007. Indeed, the COE owes its long-standing reputation to the efforts it has placed in offering students the best possible education.
Our development within the Cergy Pontoise campus, Paris’ largest university city, has enabled :
The school’s thorough investment in both clinical and fundamental research programs, and more specifically, the creation of the Association de Recherche Etude et Développement de l’Ostéopathie en Europe (AREDOE) from which stemmed results that have served in the modernization process of our osteopathic education system,
Teachers to be trained and evaluated by means of a thorough follow-up,
The elaboration of an osteopathic method which is now coupled to an innovating pedagogical approach focused on a specific apprenticeship of the osteopathic gesture,
The creation of an osteopathic clinic whose combined therapists have carried out over 25 000 consultations to this day. The clinic guarantees the crucial ties existing between college, campus, and city.
Our college owes its evolution to its existence and expansion to our school spirit, whose core values are based on interaction, respect, and the sharing of knowledge. In fact, it is fair to say that honesty and intellectual thoroughness in transmitting knowledge are at the very heart of the COE’s foundations.
By the end of 2009, we will have readjusted our establishment's activity to ISO 9001's quality standards. Between 2009 to 2013, we will focus on establishing a European-wide teaching network involved in the Erasmus project. During this period, we will also continue to closely assist our graduating students in their professional insertion.

Entering the profession

The COE has adopted two study cycles: the first cycle is accomplished over a period of 4 years, a time during which the student acquires the necessary bases required to study osteopathy. The second cycle is accomplished throughout the fifth year and is destined to professionalize the student.
La recherche
Research
The COE's research department participated in the Monaco deliberations in 1996 and 1999. During the same period, the department, sponsored by the COST B4 European Commission, produced a report based on clinical osteopahic studies in Europe, which was presented in Pavia in 1999. Different articles were published in the German scientific journal Krager in 1999 and a fundamental study on tissular rythms of cranio-facial microcirculation was published in the Biométrie Humaine magazine. Research is an important component of the COE; throughout their 5-year cursus, students are trained to develop their critical thinking capacities and to structure their thoughts so as to be apt to carry out literature-based research and be able to participate in elaborating scientific protocols.

The clinic

Clinical practice is another crucial component of the COE's professional training; each student is regularly and individually tutored in order that he improve his diagnostic and therapeutic capacities.
L’engagement
Our engagement
The COE's deeply humanist values prone a non-discriminatory policy. The only individuals who are excluded are visually handicapped and partially-sighted people, because of the necessity for our osteopaths to carry out a differential diagnostic which guarantees the patient's security. The COE upholds a policy of equality, where each applicant is given an equal chance. An Erasmus department was created to promote the Erasmus University Charter, a declaration for the Erasmus strategy, and Erasmus actions. Indeed, Erasmus is an important element of in our communication.
