Examinations and the diploma

EXAMINATIONS AND THE DIPLOMA

There are two types of examinations:

Annual examinations validating the passage to the next year

Students validate their first semester by validating evaluations (tests and exams):

-                                                                                                                                               Written exams as well as practice exams; the evaluations take place during two days planned in June

-                                                                                                                                               The second session is a period during which students having failed one or several classes can retake exams. This examination period takes place right before the beginning of the September seminary.

Diploma-awarding examinations

Depending on the professional category the student belongs to, Training Units 3, 4, and 5 are acquired by different means:

-                                                                                                                                               Unit A concerns osteopathic theory

-                                                                                                                                               Unit B concerns practice

-                                                                                                                                               Unit C represents the time during which our future therapists apply the theoretical and practical knowledge they acquired by practicing in the clinic

For units 3 to 5, A and B, two examination sessions per Training Unit are organized:

-                                                                                                                                               The first session is organized after completion of all Training Units, or in several stages, depending on the volume of the corresponding program, and upon the Direction’s decision.

-                                                                                                                                               The second session (during which students can retake their exams) takes place after a maximum of three months after the first session. Unit C is validated in several steps.

NB: Validating the Training Units mentioned above and passing onto the next year are independent.

Terms of examinations

The examinations can take the form of a multiple choice questionnaire or can be a series of short-answer questions. The practice examinations take the form of an osteopathic protocol evaluation with its practical application.

Annual examinations:

-                                                                                                                                               Aptitudes and acquisition of knowledge are evaluated

o                                                                                                                     By tests spread throughout the year

o                                                                                                                     By a final exam

o                                                                                                                     By a combination of the two evaluation methods mentioned above

Tests are organized the first day of each seminary, and concern the seminary having just ended.

Diploma-awarding examinations:

Students must be evaluated for each training unit to ensure a sufficient comprehension of the courses. Their knowledge is assessed through written and practice exams, or in other cases, by a professional situation scenario. Obtaining the training units is subordinated to an individual’s attendance to each of them as well as to his validation of the examinations. The candidate has maximum two chances to validate his training units, in a delay of maximum three years. Beyond these conditions, the student must pass all of the training units again.

-                                                                                                                                               Training Units UF3 to UF5 are validated progressively as the courses are given to concerned students.

-                                                                                                                                               Unit A is validated by a theoretical exam at the end of the 4th year, and by a literature research presentation at the end of the 5th year.

-                                                                                                                                               Unit B is validated at the end of the 4th year of osteopathic studies, and is one of the criteria needed to validate the individual’s capacity to clinical autonomy.

-                                                                                                                                               Unit C is validated at the end of the 5th year of osteopathic studies, after several theoretical and practical steps, and the elaboration of three clinical cases.

Obtaining the diploma requires:

That the students validate all of the theoretical and practice training units

That the students validate all of the annual evaluations
