CLINICAL TRAINING
Clinical training is distributed among several complementary domains.
The objective is for our future osteopaths to develop the competencies necessary to offer their patients complete osteopathic care.
A clinical notebook is use to keep track of the content and validation of the training; it includes:
- Clinical osteopathic tutorial classes
- Stages with osteopath D.O. practitioners
- Osteopathic consultation stages
- A validation of the Capacity for Clinical Autonomy
- Osteopathic emergency stages in athletic tournaments supervised by MED & COE Assistance
- Results of the staff supervisions of clinical cases follow-ups.
Early in their program, COE students have the opportunity to practice their therapeutic skills. Indeed clinical tutorials are organized within the school and are integrated in our class schedules.
These tutorials are distributed among the Training Units corresponding to the given region. Needless to say, the tutorials are supervised by our staff of osteopaths D.O.
Stages with osteopath D.O. practitioners
For their stage in osteopathy, students can accompany any osteopath D.O. practitioner having graduated from the COE, or appearing in the list socio-professional associations and having signed a convention with the COE.
The COE’s Clinic of Osteopathy
Student stages are held in the COE’s Clinic of Osteopathy (31 consultation rooms); their objectives are:
- Offering a given patient the required osteopathic assistance, until acquiring the Capacity for Clinical Autonomy at the end of the 4th year. Students are closely tutored by our staff of osteopaths D.O., who validate this step.
- Developing and mastering the art of care-giving, throughout the consultation and the osteopathic treatment, by:
- Mastering and elaborating a therapeutic project
- Analyzing and discussing the clinical and osteopathic results
- Adapting and following through with the therapeutic project
- Elaborating and presenting the complete records detailing each clinical follow-up, associated with literature research
- Writing up a memoir based on clinical case reports
Osteopathic emergency stages during athletic events
These stages are organized by our partners with MED & COE Assistance.
They take place on the spot, during a given event. MED & COE Assistance supplies the necessary materials and a staff of COE osteopaths D.O. is present to supervise the students. MED & COE Assistance also supplies a medical frame.
The osteopathic treatment we provide is offered by clinical consultations. These are supervised by our staff; their task is to guarantee the proper progression of the consultations and the patient’s security, and to verify that the students properly upkeep their records.
Keeping track of these records enables us to collect anonymous information which offers the possibility of developing statistics and publications.
