ADVANCING RESEARCH, EVOLVING TRAINING
At the COE, we believe that the discipline of osteopathy must evolve, just as medical, fundamental, and human sciences evolve.
For this reason, we place a lot of importance in osteopathic research and are perpetually revitalizing the establishment’s osteopathic teachings.
At the end of the training, after having delivered their memoirs, we give our students the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of osteopathy by joining our research team.
THE AREDEO: THE COE’S RESEARCH DEPARTMENT
The AREDOE: Association pour la Recherche, l’Étude et le Développement de l’Ostéopathie en Europe (Association for Research, Study and Development of Osteopathy in Europe)
This association was created in 1994 in response to a need in the field for scientific works both in clinical and scientific spheres of osteopathy.
European
The AREDOE is present in France and in Germany. In both countries, the COE’s research department crews are made up of osteopaths, methodologists, and specialized speakers excelling in diverse fields.
The AREDOE spirit, however, remains genuinely osteopathic.
Its vocation: promoting osteopathy’s scientific bases in Europe
- Evaluating the quality of scientific studies produced in Europe
- Validating different osteopathic treatments by comparing results from randomized clinical studies versus placebo effects
- Publishing reports sponsored by the European Commission (Cost-B4)
- Stimulating the quality of research in institutions such as the AOD (Akademie Osteopathie Deutshland)
The AREDOE was a part of the FEO (Fédération Européenne des Ostéopathes) research department, an association referenced by the European Commission and the CEPLIS (Conseil Économique ds Professions Libérales Intellectuelles et Scientifiques).
In 1996 the AREDOE received the Régis Godefroy Prize, given by the Union Fédérale des Ostéopathes de France.
The AREDOE: Serving European Osteopathy
- In December 1996, during the Monaco International Exchange, the AREDOE exposed a randomized study versus placebo effect on osteopathic treatments done on chronic lumbagos; the column was published in French and German.
- Osteopathic medicine – literature review and evaluation of clinical and fundamental studies: AREDOE, Final Report. Under the aegis of the Cost-B4 European Commission. Communicated in June 1998 in Pavia (Italy).
- In November 1999: Communications at the Monaco International Exchange. A Randomized Study versus placebo effect for an osteopathic treatment on functional colopathies, OSTEA Diffusion – AREDOE – Paris, 1998.
- Evaluierung und kritische Bewertung von der in der europäischen Literatur veröffentlichten, osteopathischen Studien im klinischen Bereich und im Bereich der Grundlagenforschung - Journal Karger, 1999, www.karger.com/journals/fkm.
